TouchCAD supports in-scale image unfolding based on background images. Such images can be mapped on given parts of the 3D model and be exported as unfolded images. These unfolded images can be either in the current drawing scale, or in full scale, all with an accuracy of one pixel. The output can be completely nested, as shown below, being optimized for a given printer size. The output is therefore more or less ready for printing in one automated step. TouchCAD can process images up to several hundred megapixels (millions of pixels). Unfolded images also match vector based output from TouchCAD down to one pixel, and can include all available unfolding features, plus parametrically adjustable bleed from the image side.
The image unfolding features allows the production of very large and complex shapes, completely consisting of pre-painted unfolded panels, such as the tent shown below. Brochure can be found here.
